Cheek Lift Procedure
Cheek lift surgery is commonly preformed under general anesthesia and completed within two hours. Small incisions are made through the gum line, and sometimes above the hairline, to minimize the appearance of scars post-operation. The malar fat pad, adjoining muscle, and nearby tissue are separated from the cheekbone, moved it into the desired location, and then re-sutured it to the cheekbone in that position.
Recovery
Depending on the patient’s post-operative care and healing ability, cheek lift recovery is usually within two weeks. The cheeks and lower lips will be numb and swollen after surgery, and use of cold compresses and elevation of the head is recommended to speed recovery and alleviate discomfort. Sun exposure and strenuous activity should be avoided for several weeks, and the incisions must be kept sterile after surgery by maintaining personal hygiene. Swelling will subside over one to two months and results will become visible.
